“Robert and I were crew members with Team Logica and Team Veritas in the BT Global Challenge 2000-2001 sailing west around the world against prevailing winds and currents. It was a race for amateur teams but with a professional Skipper, the object being to enjoythe thrills of an adventure of a lifetime and have a taste of what the professional yachtsmen and woman experience and with a bonus of raising money for charity. “The brains behind the four Challenges over a 12 year period, was Sir Chay Blyth. Before we set sail for the start of each leg he would gather all the Teams together and give us
the following advice.

‘Races are won and lost in light winds so TRIM TRIM TRIM.

"I am sure he won't mind us passing on his words of wisdom to all the crew members should they find themselves racing against each other!

"Each day, each moment, each watch has a beginning a
middle and an end so make the most of them, enjoy the adventure both at sea and in Port and hang on to the memories. Look out for each other and we wish you ‘Fair Winds’ and not forgetting your families and friends who are as
important in their support of your personal challenge as anyone.”
